T.M.I.

Last night, we were watching a rerun of a rerun of Oprah. I just love that Dr.Oz. When he explained how a neti pot could clean out your sinuses, Matt just knew we needed to try it. A member of Oprah's staff had been using one for awhile and she said it was life changing. So I got on the internet to see where I could get us one of these life altering pots. Turns out, they have become so popular that the demand is outweighing the supply. They are going for about $30.00 on Ebay. Seeing as how that seems a little high for a nostril cleaner outer thing, my very clever husband decided that we could just make one ourselves. First he tried a baby bottle with the nipple tip cut off. No such luck. Next up was one of my creamer pitchers. Once again, no dice. We finally succeded with a tupperware funnel and an extra person pouring the salt water steadily into it. I have got to say, I have never breathed easier in my life. Matt said his sense of smell was amazing. So we are hooked on homemade sinus cleansing.

New food

1. After much thought, I tried Social Suppers. I went with 4 friends and made 8 meals in less than 2 hours. The meals are large enough to serve my family twice so it's really like I made 16 meals. They have about 15 dishes every month to choose from. It's stuff I wouldn't normally make so I'm excited to try something new. Like the bacon wrapped turkey medallions in blueberry balsamic sauce that we will be having this week.

2. I was officially the second to last person (Jenny being the last) to try Ocean Zen. It was wonderful!

3. Tonight, we made fondue. Well really, I watched Holly and Mandy make fondue but I ate it. So yummy.

A mother's day

Oliver has recently learned to kiss. He's picky about it, so far he's only smooched me and Morgan a few times. Daddy tries and tries but Ollie makes it clear the kisses are reserved for his mama. I just love it. I love that he's mine and he's here. I love that God choose us to be his parents. I love that my girls will always have a brother. I just love him. I don't think I'll ever get over how amazing adoption is.

Today I was asked what I didn't like about living here. The only thing I could come up with is that they took our Gap away. Seriously. I just love it here. Don't you?

This is the most shallow post ever...

Do people who live near an Ikea even realize how fortunate they are? How great would it be to wake up on a Saturday, drive a few miles, throw down $249, and come home with this couch. While you were there, you could pick up some great $5 curtains, a $1 hot pink toilet brush, and eat a quiet lunch since your kids would be off playing in the supervised play area. I'm just saying, how great would that be?

3 months ago today

So much has changed since those first few days at home. I even think he likes us now!

This reminds me of when Jesus multiplied the fish and bread...

I have no idea where all this stuff came from. Jen and I were just talking on Monday about how we would probably just be using a third of the gym and even then, we'd need to spread the stuff around so it would look bigger. Look at this...the gym is full to the brim!!! Isn't God good? I've definitely seen His hand on this fundraiser.

It's not too late....

I have been so overwhelmed by everyones' generous donations to the garage sale. Thank you so much. If you still have stuff laying around you'd like to get rid of, it's not too late. Just bring it to church Wed. night and put it in the Companion classroom. Or bring it to the gym on Thursday. Or call Jen or I and we'll pick it up. Don't forget to come out and support the Demers (shop!) on Friday or Saturday. We have everything from baby clothes to homemade pies to furniture to hand crocheted dishcloths a great-grandmother made for the sale. And a whole bunch of other stuff. Thank you once again to everyone who is helping us make this sale a reality. Please be praying that it is hugely successful! Adoption's expensive!

Today we celebrated not one, but two Wilson family birthdays. I love both of you girls dearly, dearly, dearly. Thank you for including us in your celebrations. Happy birthday Morgan and Holly!

You hear a lot of frightning tales about adoption. The lifelong attachment disorder. The birthmother who steals her babies and attempts to flee to Canada. The Olympic medalist adoptee who confesses he feels displaced and orphaned even as an adult. Finalizations falling through at the last minute. I think the negative stories have a way of being repeated more often than the postive. That seems to be human nature.

Today, at the mall, I was blessed by chatting with an adult Korean adoptee. You might recognize her.. She had such great things to say about the whole shabang. She is very involved with adoptive families. We exchanged info and we've already been e-mailing back and forth. As a new adoptive mama, her persective is invaluable to me. I need to hear the positive.

This is overdue, but....

My grandma turned the big 9-0 on Monday. We celebrated by taking her to Big Cedar (against her will) for the weekend. Her party on Sunday was held where most 90th birthday parties are held, the Heritage. I hope I'm as spunky as her when I'm 90.

I have been feeling older lately. Not old, just older. Might have something to do with my approaching birthday. Ever since 24, I've had an issue with my birthday. I think I should still be 17. I was looking through the engagement announcements on Sunday. Every Sunday since high school, I have known someone in the announcements. Not only did I not recognize anyone, the happy couples looked like kids. I recently got my first wrinkle. A smile line just to the left of my mouth. I don't know how to text. I enjoy watching the weather channel. On and on it goes....

Because that's what best friends do!

Me: Maggie, you girls don't need to be playing in the bathroom. Don't tell Millie to go in there.

Spring Break

pictures and stuff

When you go on a trip to a place you've never been before, and you are pretty sure you won't be back for years, you take a whole lot of pictures. When you have a baby and everyone comes to visit, and you want to remember the first few days at home, you take a whole lot of pictures. Well add those two events together and what do you get? Way too many pictures. I went through my Picasa and only choose the shots I absolutely couldn't live without. There are now 596 prints coming from Shutterfly.

My camera was acting a little wacky so we sent it to New England this week. The warranty runs out next month so Matt wanted to get it looked at now. I am surprised at how much I miss it. There are many things happening this week I wanted pictures of: the Derek Webb concert, Roscoe's birthday, meeting a new baby at the hospital, greeting a new baby at the airport, and on it goes.
