If you are fan of blog star Heather like I am, you know all about her fab family nights. I've been meaning to do one for awhile and we finally made it happen. The girls were all about wearing their bathing suits last week so we had a beach party. Someone woke up from his nap angry and did NOT feel like participating in the dress code.
The kids dined on octopus atop the sea. It goes against all I hold dear in regard to nutrition and feeding my children well to give them hot dogs and ramen for dinner. But to keep with a theme, I will bend the rules.
We introduced the kids to The Beach Boys which was fun since they will be at the fair this year. I can't wait to do a family night again. Thanks Heather for the inspiration!

Valentine's day
My parents kept the kids while Matt and I went to Maria's on Friday night. They had their own little party with a heart shaped pizza and this delicious strawberry cake.
Old Navy had a deal where if you took in a valentine your kids had colored, they got a $5 off coupon. Well, you know I wasn't gonna pass that up.
I let each child pick out an item to spend their $5 on. The girls all picked out balls and flip flops, Oliver wanted a dog bone. We don't have a dog.
Free Andy's!!!!
Our group shot before heading to Ocean Zen.
The boys had flowers delivered to our table at the restaurant.
Mark thought that this was the only celebration of his 40th birthday that would take place that night.
While we were at dinner, the Wilson and Hillenburg kids were doing more than babysitting at our house. They were busy decorating for Mark's surprise party.
We set a new record for the number of people in our house at one time. It was so fun! I can't believe we pulled off a true surprise. Good work Cindy!
Like all good parties, the night ended with dancing in the basement.
